Good food is our passion and it’s what the Chequers is all about. We have an amazing team of chefs in the kitchen all of whom are absolutely passionate about creating the tastiest and most interesting food in the area.

Our food is seasonal and our menu changes monthly – blink and that favourite dish you had the other night might have already been replaced by another creation.  Nothing gives us more pleasure than a customer struggling to choose from our menu because it all sounds so good!  Whether you fancy a burger and a pint or a 3 course restaurant experience – you’ll find it on our menu.  Fish and Chips and a bottle of Condrieu – no problem Sir!

The Bakehouse is one of the oldest parts of the building and dates back to 1640 when the Chequers was a farm and used to bake bread for the village - the original oven still remains.  Now the Bakehouse is a cosy, intimate restaurant with a log burner for cold nights.

The Snug is another of our smaller dining rooms, just off the bar
with an open log fire.

The Drawing Room is just off The Snug and features an original parquet floor and wallpaper depicting the Isaac Newton’s drawing instruments.  It’s a stylish dining room and will also accommodate private parties for up to 24 guests.  It can be combined with the Snug for up to 35 guests and is also perfect for informal buffet parties for up to 45 guests.

The Garden Room is just behind the main bar and offers private dining for up to 18 guests on one large table.  It also features patio doors into the garden, perfect for summer drinks before dinner.
